migration to rdkafka-ruby ??

Are there any plans to move this product to rdkafka-ruby instead of ruby-kafka (deprecated) ?

Likelihood is no, since this is a relatively small library and most of the code is heavily tied to ruby-kafka. It's more likely that we will build an rdkafka-ruby version of this at some point. But we aren't in a rush just yet.
