Documentation for VLAN Configuration

Description:

I suggest adding a new documentation page to Pi-hole docs, guiding users on how to configure additional virtual LAN interfaces on Pi-hole to operate across multiple VLANs. This would be helpful for new Pi-hole users with more advanced networking setups using VLANs.

Importance:

  • Enables a single Pi-hole instance to be used across multiple VLAN-configured networks.
  • Improves Pi-hole's functionality in more complex network environments.
  • Provides information for more secure and efficient network management, rather than one-off, ad-hoc solutions.

Problem

Many users who are interested in Pi-hole have advanced network setups that utilize VLANs to segregate traffic, enhance security, and optimize network performance. However, there is no existing documentation that explains how to configure Pi-hole to function within these VLAN-enabled networks. This omission makes it difficult for users to integrate Pi-hole effectively into their network.

Suggestion

It would be beneficial to have documentation that guides users through the process of configuring Pi-hole to work with VLANs. Such documentation should cater to users with advanced networking knowledge and cover the necessary steps to set up and test VLAN interfaces and configure Pi-hole accordingly.
