Cannot play Fallout New Vegas in Desktop Mode

Whenever I try to load Fallout New Vegas in Desktop mode (so I can screen share on discord), I get an error about display resolution (image attached).

I’ve tried altering some ini files and opening the original launcher in proton tricks, but neither made any difference. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong there though.

Managed to fix this by reinstalling the game, and making sure the first time I opened it was in desktop mode, not game mode.
