I was thinking about how I will put pad numbering and a bunch of other thing on the remodeled station (I made good progress the past few days).

Is it possible to have something like custom decals (with similar alpha support) for these kind of things?

Labels could also be used for pad designation, but they are less flexible when it comes to typesetting and other visual things.

Edit: and option for them to be self-lit / shadeles would be nice too. Right now the whole station interior will be self-lit because the outside light would feel strange inside.

This could also be used for billboard advertisements, and other minor markings like:
Airport runway markings

What do you mean by "custom decals"?
Can you give me an example of how you'd use them because I don't quite understand what you're asking for right now.

I think I see what you mean, you want something like the existing ship/station decal system but more than 4 of them?

I think 4 decals is a technical limitation but I've never looked into it before.

Yes, like those, but with the ability to specify the images used by them.

Ah right yes I understand now! Sorry, that was me being a bit thick for a while there :)

I'll take a look and see if it's possible.

Don't forget that my explanation skills aren't top notch. :)
And thanks :).
