Add New Website returns no data on new install

going to [mydomain]?module=SitesManager&action=index&showaddsite=1&period=day&date=today results in a seg fault in my error.log and returns no data. ("No data received" page in Chrome)

• PHP 5.3.6-13ubuntu3.10 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: Mar 11 2013 14:30:28)
• Ubuntu 11.10
• mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.69, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 6.2

installed latest version from piwik.org today, stepped through the install wizard successfully, was able to add the first site in that install wizard and everything works, but when I go to add more sites, I get the above error.

Tried searching FAQs, Forums, & Issues to no avail.

Can you please check your server error log as maybe there is some interesting error message there?

I wish there were. tailing the apache error log and recreating the error only shows this log:

[Tue Aug 05 17:09:47 2014] [notice] child pid 10937 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
