Is it possible for me to edit the json with my own icons?
.bowerrc
.nvmrc
etc

Thank you! Yes it should be possible for you to edit the json. Just look into your extension folder, add some icons to the icon folder and change the material-icons.json-file. It is not very difficult.

You can also contribute to the icon theme by creating pull requests if you want.

But you should also backup your changes from the extension folder. If there's a new update on the marketplace your changes could be overwritten with the update.
