Amongst the already pretty color palettes, provide a11y and color blind friendly palettes.

I found these for different type of colour blindness, but you'd have to use a color picker tool. Not super practical: http://mkweb.bcgsc.ca/colorblind/img/colorblindness.palettes.png

The a11y project have a few online tools One of them this: Mix and match color classes to create accessible themes

Wanted to ask is it possible to now to allow users provide their custom color palette? If not is there a plan to do so?

@Firenze11, of course, you can provide your custom color palette to colors property for most components.

@Firenze11 if it helps, here is how I coloured my pie chart so each segment alternates between my theme's primary and secondary colours:
