Fresh macOS Install

Pre-Install Checklist

• Are all cloud services fully synced (e.g. iCloud Drive)?
• Are all syncing services fully synced (e.g. Browser Sync)
• Are any changes to this repository committed and pushed?
• Are system / application settings backed-up via mackup?
• Are important files / directories backed-up to an external drive?
• Are accounts for applications / services detached / signed-out?
• Is the Mac removed from iCloud?
• Is FileVault Encryption stopped?
• Is the Mac's HDD fully decrypted?

Re-installing macOS

Go through the checklist above. Double check that everything is backed up.

Follow the macOS User Guide to cleanly install the latest macOS version. Note that since macOS Monterey there's the option to restore the Mac to factory settings.

During macOS Installation

• Change language to English (US)
• Change the computer's account name to philipp
• Change the computer's full name to Philipp Muens
