Firefox repeatedly warning about jsrestrictor “slowing down computer” #151
Comments
I think this issue might be related to the pages you are using. Do you notice a slowdown on any particular pages? What other extensions are you using? Without more details, it is impossible to reproduce this issue. I use JShelter on a Thinkpad X200 from 2008 so it works for me without much system resources. |
i doubt this because after the warning none of my tabs loaded correctly, anymore – until i disabled jsrestrictor. how could i provide more details (especially about my other add-ons) without giving away too much of my private information? i don’t really want to share my setup here. |
Good point about privacy, but we cannot help you or improve the extension without more information. If you want to provide more details such as operating system, browser version, JShelter version, other extensions, and websites, my email can be found on my profile and you can even encrypt with GPG. |
This is possibly (but not necessary) related to #144. |
Until we have more data, we cannot do anything with the issue. |
There are pages that are slowed down by JShelter, they even render the page compeltely unresponsive, see https://pagure.io/JShelter/webextension/issue/16. I am closing this issue as there is not any progress. |
For a future reference, it is a good idea to combine JShelter with tracker blocker extension like uBlock Origin. |
Using the Firefox add-on for a few weeks now with only minor configuration changes I noticed some tabs are restoring endlessly and the browser displays a warning together with the suggestion to stop the add-on.
If I do so, the tabs load normally again. Could be a side-effect with another add-on, I am using quite a bunch. Still, the browser complains about this add-on, so here I go.
