Does not seem to work in the latest and greatest firefox #27
Comments
Right. Edited the readme. I have no interest in developing three web services just to continue to sync with my own sync server which is not intended by Mozilla (as for now [1]). Feel free to adapt the code to work with the new Sync API 1.5 and implement a token server as well as a firefox account server with some fancy new authentication scheme (still not RFC'ed but a reference Node.js implementation, because Node is the future). |
For the meanwhile I rolled back to ESR as per this comment owncloud-archive/mozilla_sync#33 (comment) We'll see what mozilla end up with in 6 month time. Hopefully, they make something work. |
In six month you are able to enter a url to your custom server but still need to run a tokenserver, a firefox account server and a sync server. IIRC owncloud has started development, but it's quite difficult due to the internal complexity of the new sync. |
I'm quite sure that underlying implementation works well enough, but the firefox seems to remove the ability to sync against a custom server in the last builds. It's quite possible that there is a way to make it work after monkeying around with about:config, etc, but it's not obvious how. Perhaps a note should be added to readme that clearly states that due to the changes with firefox this project is no longer usable.
