Proxy issue

Hello people,

I have a problem that when I want to use this tool behind a proxy that useally it is not very effective. For some reason if I use a proxy I just DOS my own pc! Also I would like to use TOR as a proxy so I enter http://127.0.0.1:8118 or http://127.0.0.1:8123 for polipo but it just seems to spawn connections instantly but it does not do anything, accept for it takes my own internet connection out! However if I use something like proxifier to link it to 127.0.0.1:9050 it looks like it is working but the connection is not very strong....

Do I need to use a proxy for this program or is it safe to use a direct connection?

I am also having problems with the proxy function..

It wont accept the format for example: 67.215.228.129:3128
It only accepts http:// formats.. how can I use anonymous proxies?
