Suggestion. - To improve user experience for all skill levels, my suggestion would be to replace the current command line editing of the yaml file on first initialization with something like a "access point" that displays the editable settings in a default webpage.
Example scenario :
A friend/mother/grandmother etc recieves a SD card with Alice installed. They put it in the their RPI and plug it in.
Now on their phone or laptop they switch networks to a "AliceAP" network. That then automatically opens a default page like 192.168.4.1 which displays a typical webpage that the user would understand (with drop boxes etc) ...
Please enter the following details and click Save, then swap back to your normal network..
Your WIFI name
Your WIFI password
Select your sound device type
etc
etc

IF Alice has been configured and setup.... AP mode only will only be available for the first minute of a restart of Alice. Gives user the option to change details without having a AP mode active 24/7

Although I love the idea, that won't be for right now. As of it, it needs a separate web server that runs and serves the page allowing the end user to configure the install. But this suggestion definitly stays
