Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
When I paint seams, they don't snap to edges very well. I need to pay extra attention to the smoothness of that painting

Describe the solution you'd like
Some tool to create seams like ms paint can create straight lines. Hold shift, or other key to paint straight lines.

Describe how it would work
hold the ruler key to create only one line until mouse button is released. When released, create a perfectly straight line from the point where mouse button was pressed to the point it was released. Also there could be some vertical snapping to enhance it even more

Original issue mentions only vertical seams, what if someone wants to have a sloped seam? They didn't discuss it there.

There are other tickets besides this one that deal with this in a more generic fashion and also have specific suggestions, such as shift-click or similar to get a straight line.

That this basic requirement has not been implemented to this date is beyond me. But hey, we can put text on objects…
