In addition to the poverty status (at or below 100% of FPL) by age, we would like to get the low income status (at or below 200% of FPL) by age (5-17, 18-64, 65-84, 85+) as well. Please see below list for additional request/information:

• Desired age grouping: 0-4, 5-17, 18-64, 65-84, 85+

• ACS data tables:
o Population age distribution (B01001)
o Low income (200% threshold) (C17002)
o Disability status (B18101)
o People of color (race/ethnicity) (B03002)
o Limited English Proficiency (LEP) (C16001)
o Veterans (S2101)
o Zero vehicle households (B25045)

(If decide to include PUMS data)
• By-age cross-tabs:
o Low income (200% threshold) by age
o Disability status by age
o People of color (race/ethnicity) by age
o Limited English Proficiency (LEP) by age
o Veterans by age
• Additional cross-tabs:
o Low-income (200% threshold) by race/ethnicity by age
o Disability status by race/ethnicity by age
o Low-income with disability by race/ethnicity
o Low-income with disability by age
o LEP with low-income by race/ethnicity
o LEP by language
o Veterans with disability status by age
o Veterans with low-income by race/ethnicity

Sorry for the long list of requests but these are the data tables we pulled for RTP equity analysis and Coordinated Mobility Plan update. We, transportation division, often use above tables for presentations/reporting.

FYI for PUMS you just need to specify two grouping variables to get a crosstab.

The equity_tracker repo has a function add_efa_vars() that handles low-income, disability, POC and LEP, along with the categories for households with young members and households with older members. It would be easy to transfer this to the package itself if it will be used frequently outside the equity tracker project. The featured age breakdown BIN_AGE matches our survey categories (11 values), but they can be grouped further. Veteran service is defined as !is.na(VPS).
