If a project on GitHub has a "readme.scroll" file then:

  • That file should be used for the project homepage, like
    readme.md currently is.

  • That file should be pretty printed, like a readme.md file currently is.

Update: actually it works have decent already! It doesn't compile to HTML, but maybe that'd be the next step.

dear-github seems like it would probably be the right place to work on getting this added.

In the mean time, and to help gain support for it as a feature, it would also probably be good to have some tooling to transpile dubmdown to markdown and/or html. That project could then also be used in a git hook to convert your README.dumbdown into html/md so it would render nicely on Github. Definitely not as convenient, but then you don't have to wait on Github to implement it, and it would probably help with adoption
