PyArmour/Pyinstaller - PermissionError: [Errno 13]

When I attempt
pyarmor pack --clean -e "--onefile " \SharedDrive\Data\file.py

I receive this error
PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'e:\users\janedoe\appdata\local\programs\python\python39\lib\site-packages\PyInstaller\bootloader\Windows-64bit\run.exe'

I'm a system admin so there shouldn't be a permissions issue. I've uninstalled Pyarmour and Pyinstaller and upgraded pip, I also tried running cmd in admin mode nothing seems to work. The solutions I've read so far haven't worked for me.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this error?

Sounds like you're using Python installed from the Windows store which has these bizarre locks in place? If not, can we have the rest of the error message?

Access denied. I'm an admin but I guess this is one of those Windows 10 permissions issues?

In that case this is nothing to do with PyInstaller. Either this is a Windows 10 permission thing or your company's IT have gone overboard and blocked it. If you create a virtual environment using venv them you might be able to get past all this because pyinstaller will no longer be in that locked down path.

The issue was PyInstaller. I downgraded from 4.2 to 4.0 and was able to execute. Not sure why that was the issue but hopefully my headache will help others.

That's quite likely AV too. Versions of PyInstaller's binaries gradually get more widely accepted as they age (presumably from our users reporting them as false positives enough times for them to be excluded).

Is there an antivirus program running interference?

We do have them running but my counterpart was able the run it just fine. Not sure why I was having so many issues.

Perhaps you are running with different version of AV definitions.
