be serialized, so we go with a poor man's solution of raising an exception

tblib supports serialising Exceptions and Tracebacks https://pypi.org/project/tblib/#pickling-exceptions-together-with-their-traceback-and-chain-python-3-only

At first glance it looks error prone and in need of extra integration
