We should release 4.0.1 soon to address the broken sdist in 4.0.0. I won't have too much guaranteed time for the next few days but should be able to do it on Tuesday at the latest.

I'd also like to get fixes for #29 and #26 in.

With regards to typing-extensions 4.0.0 issues as there is no setup.py anymore it has broken packaging on arch linux. Can we please have a setup.py going forward please? This is also in conjunction with the sdist issue.

It seems from me having a look at some other issues that, moving to flit has cased to many issues and depending on opinion some people may see it as major problems others not. From my stand point it is major, as flit breaks the packaging on arch and will also break that on debain/ubuntu as well. Might be worth going back to the old method? I know flit can generate a setup.py but in my testing when trying to package up typing-extensions 4.0.0 it would not actually write it to a location that I can find if at all. Would be good to go back to the old trusted setup.py so it will fix packaging again for distributions and other issues related to the new build system.

setup.py is basically deprecated at this point, so I'm not particularly inclined to go back to the old way. Why do you need a setup.py?
