The print composer could really do with a way to align all the map features, this is done in many software (CAD, ArcGIS & others) with "construction lines", these lines allow features to be aligned without displaying on print.
It would be good if the lines followed the same rules as the alignment grid, which, in v2.0.1 is really good!

This is already possible - you can drag a line from the ruler to add a snap line at any position on the page. Is that what you are referring to?

Oops, so you can!! Apologies, knew about the guide which appears when you move features but not for construction....I'll remove this. Thanks.
