Found this issue when looking into how to make a bold font marker. This issue really isn't solved.
For instance, I have a layer who's label font is Arial. Arial shows several font styles: Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Black, Narrow, Narrow Bold, Narrow Italic, and Narrow Bold Italic (See figure 1). In the label font settings, I can set the font to be bold or italics, and it works as expected.
Setting the font style in the font marker to bold or italic does nothing (See figures 2 and 3).The Black or Narrow styles works as expected (probably because it uses the Arial Black and Arial Narrow fonts), but none of the Bold or Italic style options work like the label font style setting.
I would think this is a bug, rather than a feature request because the behavior does not match the UI.

Figure 2: Font style setting in Font marker settings (Marker Symbol item with 'MD' text). Feature label with bold font on the right for comparison next to the marker symbol set to Regular (baseline).
Figure 3: Same area, but the Font marker setting is set to Bold, note no change with Figure 2.
Figure 4: For completeness, Font style set to Italic. Again, with no change.

When symbolizing features (point) in QGIS 2.4 using the FONT MARKER symbol type, it would be useful to enable BOLD text on the labels.
