Metadata should be saved in the style as well #19549
Comments
Author Name: Matthias Kuhn (@m-kuhn) We should consider renaming style to "layer definition". |
Author Name: Paolo Cavallini (@pcav) Agreed fully. |

Author Name: Michael Douchin (@mdouchin) Indeed, these information are saved in exported QLR, but not in exported QML. They should, regardless of the "style" vocabulary used inside QGIS to speak about "layer configurations".
|
Author Name: Paolo Cavallini (@pcav) Still true for QGIS 3.
|
I don't think so, isn't that what .qmd is for? I suggest that this ticket can be closed, noting that it was originally filed before .qmd was implemented. |
Should be closed? We already have *.qmd for metadata. |
We have a very fine control over what to export to / import from qml. I could very well see metadata fit into another category in there and would prefer that over separate files per category. |

Original Redmine Issue: 11248
Affected QGIS version: 3.0.0
Redmine category:symbology
User-input metadata (Title, abstract, etc.) are saved in the project only. IMHO they should be saved in the style as well, to make them portable along with the layer.
