Original Redmine Issue: 11248
Affected QGIS version: 3.0.0
Redmine category:symbology

User-input metadata (Title, abstract, etc.) are saved in the project only. IMHO they should be saved in the style as well, to make them portable along with the layer.

We should consider renaming style to "layer definition".
I see the benefit of portable layer information but it doesn't fit to the term style for me.

Indeed, these information are saved in exported QLR, but not in exported QML. They should, regardless of the "style" vocabulary used inside QGIS to speak about "layer configurations".

Still true for QGIS 3.

I don't think so, isn't that what .qmd is for?

I suggest that this ticket can be closed, noting that it was originally filed before .qmd was implemented.

Should be closed? We already have *.qmd for metadata.

We have a very fine control over what to export to / import from qml. I could very well see metadata fit into another category in there and would prefer that over separate files per category.
