The QGIS Browser panel is the easiest way to add data to projects. Just drag and drop. It works fine for most datatypes, but I have a problem with spatialite and styles.
It's possible to save layer styles in the sqlite database as long as you add the layer with the "Add spatialite layer" button. If you drag and drop the layer from the browser, no style connection to the database is made.
If you have set a default style in the database, it will only load if you add the layer from the button.
(I've tested on a small polyline dataset, exported from shape to spatialite, which by the way takes an awfully long time...)
PostGIS layers work fine and is possible to add by the browser, still with a connection to the database for the styles. It would be preferred to have sqlite work in the same way.
