QGIS browser panel scanning slows down QGIS #27360
Comments
Author Name: Giovanni Manghi (@gioman) Does it happen also on 3.*?

Author Name: Paolo Cavallini (@pcav) AFAIK this has always been so. Do you find previous versions faster? |
Author Name: Saber Razmjooei (@saberraz) I have noticed it only under QGIS 2.18. It is specific to the VDI and works fine on the normal OS. |

Original Redmine Issue: 19533
Affected QGIS version: 2.18.22
Redmine category:browser
I am trying to browse to some folders containing 100s of layers (mainly Mapinfo tab files) through QGIS panel. The scanning takes a long time and slows down QGIS to almost an unusable state.
Note that I am using QGIS on a VDI.
The work-around is to hide the folder from scanning.
