Original Redmine Issue: 19985
Affected QGIS version: 2.18.23
Redmine category:c++_plugins/georeferencer

Good afternoon.
The problem is that in QGIS 2.14.22 when attaching a raster to a given layer, the error qgis-ltr-bin.exe has stopped working appears. Updating the version to the latest version 2.18 did not solve the problem, please help in this situation

QGIS 2.14 is not supported anymore.

Regarding 2.18: please try using a clean installation, for example try by deleting the .qgis2 folder (backup it first, you may have things in there you may want not to lose).

  • status_id was changed from Open to Feedback
  • priority_id was changed from Normal to High
  • version was changed from 2.14.22 to 2.18.23
  • crashes_corrupts_data was changed from 0 to 1

The screenshot is about the Georeferencer: does the crash happen only when using this tool? only with a specific dataset?

Yes, the problem occurs only when using this tool, regardless of the data set.

Have also a try on QGIS 3.*

  • subject was changed from Error: qgis-ltr-bin.exe has stopped working to QGIS crashes when using the georeferencer
  • category_id was changed from Rasters to C++ plugins/Georeferencer

Please test with QGIS 3.4 - QGIS 2.18 reached it's end of life.
