Original Redmine Issue: 21329
Affected QGIS version: 3.5(master)
Redmine category:data_provider

Got this netcdf file from a dutch open data site:

http://duif.net/temp/testcrash.zip

Put it in a directory somewhere on disk.

As soon you use one of the following QGIS crashes:

  • browse to the directory in Browser
  • open it as Raster file
  • open it as Mesh

QGIS crash..

Panoply (https://www.giss.nasa.gov/tools/panoply/) is able to open it.

Mmm, upon further investigation: gdalinfo also crashes :-)

$ gdalinfo x055002.5y397502.5.nc
Warning 1: No UNIDATA NC_GLOBAL:Conventions attribute
Segmentation fault

And also in QGIS 2.18

But ALSO the mdal (so NOT gdal) dataprovider crashes QGIS3 ??
