When you say "export" do you mean Layer>Save as?
For me doing it via Project>Import/export I get a dxf which does not crash Autocad.

Note that there are two ways of exporting / saving to dxf/DWG:

  • through OGR (Layer --> Export --> Save Features As). Only saves the selected layer.
  • native from QGIS (Menü Project --> Import/Export --> Export Project to DXF). Also saves multiple layers and better for preserving styles and label settings.

Which of the two method did you use?

Closed as upstream issue.

Note this is fixed upstream and involved only changes to header.dxf and trailer.dxf
These files can be updated even without a new version of gdal; it would be good to do this in e.g. the Windows package.
