Prevent opening of Layer Properties when double-clicking on visibility checkbox in Layers Panel #38179

@uclaros how do we toggle visibility using a keyboard shortcut? |
You can assign any key you like through settings > keyboard shortcuts. There is a |
When I give QGIS workshops, this is always one of the most requested features. |
Just found that pressing the space bar when one ou multiple layers are selected toggle their visibility; an alternative to setting explicitly a keyboard shortcut. |
Feature description.
The idea is to prevent the Layer Properties window to open when clicking on the visibily checkbox in Layers Panel. I often want to rapidly check the difference between two layers so I check/uncheck the visibility checkbox of the first layer, but if I click too fast (double-click speed), the Layer Properties will open and I then need to close it.
Additional context
An alternative is to create a Mutually Exclusive Group, but it forces to have the layers in the same group and it adds some steps.
A way to prevent this could be to don't let a layer be selected when clicking on the checkbox (instead of the layer's name) (idea?)
I just found out that if the current selected layer is a group (the group name, so not really a layer), then you can click as fast as you want on the checkbox of any layer (inside or outside that group) without prompting the Layer Properties windows.
