@askog Can you please be more specific about the necessary steps to replicate?

Have you tried with a new QGIS profile?

What QGIS version? what operating system?

Sorry! Most of my bug report disappeared. (Must admit I didn't really get the hang of the markup...)

Steps:

  • I created a scratch layer
  • Went to export this layer and gave it a file name by pasting (cmd-v) a name copied elsewhere
  • When I pasted QGIS died

Tried the above a couple of times with the same result. I later noticed that some other file dialogues don't allow pasting altogether.

Setup:
QGIS version | 3.14.16-Pi
MacOS Catalina 10.15.6

@askog can you please git it a try?

I can confirm this happens regularly on macOS (just now in fact using QGIS 3.10.11).

  1. Right click on a layer and select Export Save Features As...
  2. In the next dialog, click the 3 dot button to switch to the macOS native file navigator / select dialog
  3. Try a cmd+v into that dialog... I regularly get a crash here... work around is right mouse click+paste
