QGIS on macOS can save file in qgz-format, but won't open files in qgz format #39204
Comments
@GratefulGIS QGIS 3.12 is obsolete and unsupported. Please try 3.10 LTR or 3.14, is the problem persist reopen the issue. |
Thanks for response, however the issue remains on 3.14 |
Hi @GratefulGIS, I cannot replicate the issue from official packages for QGIS 3.14, I can open the qgz projects from browser, Which MacOS version do you have? Can you post a screenshot? |
Closing for lack of feedback. |
Hello, I can reproduce this when installing a fresh qgis on macOS. My workaround is to right-click on the qgz file, choose 'Open with', choose 'Other', change "Enable: Recommended Applications" to "Enable: All Applications", navigate to QGIS, check 'Always Open With', and finally choose "Open". A fix would be for QGIS to advertise its qgz capabilities in https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/blob/master/mac/app.info.plist.in |
@grischard works fine on a clean 3.16.4 installation on macOS Catalina. |
@gioman could the issue please be reopened? I'll have a go at doing a PR, but no promises - I can't tell where the icons are in the repo, much less how the Mac icons were generated. |
@grischard don't need this to be reopened for a PR. Anyway I'm not sure what there is to fix, I checked recently and I could not confirm this report (anymore at least). |
Huh, so you can't reproduce this? I really wonder what's going on. When you double-click on a qgz file in the Finder, it opens in QGIS, even on a brand new installation, even though the qgz file type isn't in the QGIS info.plist? |
@grischard this report is not about double clicking a qgz file in finder, is/was about opening a QGZ file from the QGIS dialog "open project". |
Ah, my bad! Yeah, in that direction it works. Should I open a new issue? |
@grischard yes please, and change the reference in your PR (thanks by the way!). |
Hello,
I hope this is the right place to post, I was confused about this phenomenon. Qgis 3.12 on Mac won't let me open qgz-files. They are greyed out during Open file-selection process.
