QGIS crashes when viewing LAZ file in 3D in QGIS 3.18.1 on Mac

I am trying to load and view a public domain LAZ file from DEFRA Data Platform in QGIS 3.18.1 on Mac. The file loads fine in 2D but when trying to open in a 3D view, QGIS crashes.

This is a mac specific issue. Crash doesn't happen on linux/windows.

How to Reproduce

1. Load the LAZ file in QGIS
2. Open Layer Styling Panel and set the '3D View' to use 'Classificaiton' attribute
3. View -> New 3D View
4. Try zoom/pan/tilting the view and crash.
