Not sure if this project is still in active development, and this fork was the most recently committed-to one I could find. My fork at https://github.com/mediocregopher/chroagh seems to work ok on my machine if anyone wants to give it a shot.

The fork fixes issues #12, #11, and #8. I haven't tested any of the GUI stuff, but cli works at least.

If I specify another mirror it still returns this does not appear to be a tar archive.
when attempting to install as in the readme the result is

error: no servers configured for repository: core error: no servers configured for repository: extra error: failed to commit transaction (no servers configured for repository) Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. Unmounting /tmp/main.sh.WF8/arch-x86_64... Sending SIGTERM to processes under /tmp/main.sh.WF8/arch-x86_64...

So something is wrong with the pacman config i assume?

Maybe you could share what packages you used when installing, i did the basic
sudo sh -e installer/main.sh -r arch -t xfce
