@tarleb -- considering jgm/pandoc#8202 was merged, is this now done? Can we use this in markdown input?

In input yes, in output no. This issue is a reminder for myself that generating gridtable output isn't possible yet, but I agree that its purpose is not clear from the title.

Thanks, and thank you for all your truly wonderful work on pandoc! Lets hope the pandoc issues regarding "official" table markup don't take too long to resolve...
