During setup of a new course, we must now explicitly enable support for personal access tokens on the course organization, e.g., the dat520-2024 organization. This required a few manual steps here. I've currently configured it to require administrator approval.

@JosteinLindhom Can this be enabled via the GitHub QuickFeed app or during course creation, so that we don't have to do the manual steps?

The user still needs to create his own PAT associated with the course organization.

Closing. Turns out it works just fine with PATs for the user.
