Prepare for release:

  • Check current CRAN check results
  • devtools::check(remote = TRUE, manual = TRUE)
  • devtools::check_win_devel()
  • revdepcheck::revdep_check(num_workers = 4)
  • Update cran-comments.md
  • Polish NEWS
  • Review pkgdown reference index for, e.g., missing topics

Submit to CRAN:

  • usethis::use_version('patch')
  • devtools::submit_cran()
  • Approve email

Wait for CRAN...

  • Accepted 🎉
  • usethis::use_github_release()
  • usethis::use_dev_version()

I got a bit confused by the fact that the version on CRAN is 7.1.1 but the version on GitHub is 7.1.0.9000. But then I found this issue which explains clearly and in detail what is going on. Thank you for being so transparent.

@gustavdelius thanks! Normally there's less of a gap but this was accepted over the weekend when I wasn't working.
