Accepting macOS Security Prompts

You may need to accept security prompts to run an application or a script.

Procedure

  1. Double-click the app or script that you want to run.
  2. Depending on the executable type, in the security prompt, do one of the following:
    1. For apps, click Cancel.
    2. For scripts, click OK.
      Important: If the prompt does not appear, make the script executable. See making macOS Scripts Executable.

  3. Open the security and privacy settings by doing the following:
    1. Press Cmd and Space.
    2. In the Spotlight Search dialog, enter Security & Privacy
    3. Click Security & Privacy.
  4. In the Security & Privacy window, do the following:
    1. In the General tab, at the bottom, click the Lock icon.
    2. In the dialog, enter your password and click Unlock.
    3. Ensure that the App Store and identified developers check box is selected.
    4. Click Open Anyway.
  5. In the dialog, click Open.
