The README states:
"These themes are for GUI VIM only, they don't make sense in 256 colour consoles."

I've been using https://github.com/thestinger/termite with https://neovim.io/ and added the following line to my init.vim to enable truecolor support:

set termguicolors

This seems to be working well for most themes
