Really like your work, but have you seen this: https://github.com/CSC-IT-Center-for-Science/scalable-python ?

I used it on a BlueGene and start up was no longer a problem. Cut the start up from 45 minutes to 45 seconds...

Yep.

scalable-python was for IBM computers, where a recompiled interpreter is likely necessary (because of lack of reasonable shared library support). It turns out on newer Crays (BlueWaters/Edison/Cori) we can use the standard x64-build anaconda. This makes life a lot easier.
