Reword "democratic processes" without the baggage #57

Overview

I've seen a case of confusion that democractic processes refers to form of government. I can see that the term "democratic" does bring with it certain frames that are hard to separate from thinking about western democracy specifically.

It might be worthwhile to find an alternative wording that doesn't bring that frame with it

Proposed Resolution

None yet, need to evaluate the wording

May I suggest: "free, fair, and transparent political processes"? That would cover a lot of ground.

Work has been done to define "free and fair", that could be used as supporting language. For example: https://www.usaid.gov/what-we-do/democracy-human-rights-and-governance/supporting-free-and-fair-elections

Thanks. In continuing the theme of avoiding "mental baggage" with particular phrases, would "free, fair, and transparent electoral processes" be better?
