Is there a way to set process specific font settings?

I would like to only change the renderer settings for some of the fonts which 
have trouble rendering correctly in that specific process. For example, some 
fonts don't render correctly in Java applications (like the = sign being only 
partially visible depending on which font you use - this has been addressed in 
other issues by changing the process setting for the process). If there was a 
way to affect the settings of only some fonts in an application that would be 
very useful.
