ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '\\wsl$\rancher-desktop-data\etc\hosts'

Environment:

• Windows 10 Enterprise (OS build: 19044.1826)
• Rancher Desktop 1.5.0 (tried older version but failed)
• Company VPN (also tried without VPN and got the same error)

Can someone pls assist me with this?

@kaminisr from some of the logs, I see reference to a proxy. Do you know what type of proxy you're running and how you're connecting to it (either client side setting or bridged connection within your network)?

I have checked this with out internal IT support team and apparently there are no proxies running. Only thing was the vpn connection. I have noticed though that the log files are different, when not connected to vpn. Maybe this helps to resolve the issue:

Turn out to be that I had cygwin installed and it was using its tar exe. Hint found here: #1807
