Description

This issue is a TODO list for what we need to do after release v0.5.0.

Compatibility for configuration YAML files

• The configuration YAML files (e.g. files in ray-operator/config/samples) in the master branch must be compatible with:

  • Nightly KubeRay operator
  • Latest release of KubeRay operator (i.e. v0.4.0 at this moment)

• The configuration YAML files do not promise the compatibility with the older release of KubeRay operator. For example, #856 is compatible with the nightly KubeRay operator, but it is incompatible with KubeRay 0.4.0. Hence, we will finish #856 after release v0.5.0 (i.e. v0.4.0 is no longer the "latest" release).

Compatibility for KubeRay operator

The nightly KubeRay operator will strive to maintain compatibility with old configuration YAML files. That is, if users want to upgrade their KubeRay operators to the latest release or the nightly version, they do not need to update their configuration YAML files.
