Excellent idea given how outdated are official linux repos regarding rclone.

One pence worth of advice:

please add

    plugs:
      - removable-media

to your snap yaml

Otherwise snap installed rclone won't be able to access any mounted drives as snap is heavily sandboxed. You will probably have to explain to snapcraft community why rclone needs it. Should be straightforward in this case.

It is something I discovered when publishing other software using snap.

When it is live please send PR to update https://rclone.org/install/ page - so people can find this new way of installing.
