Can I trigger the animation from another component

I want to create a simple animation similar to $.animate would do in React

The problem is that I have another component triggering the event and not the one I actually want to perform the animation on triggering the animation

I bascially just want to change the background color and text color and then switch it back quickly to create a 'flash' type of animation

Is it possible with this library?
