Hi. Sorry - I am very new to this, but hope someone can help me.
We have developed an app that is being used by the lower LSM groups which brings a lot of its own challenges.
Current Experience:
If you open google maps and do not have mobile data on your phone, it will just return a grey map with the blue dot of the location. I know you can solve this by downloading offline maps, but the problem we are facing is not offline (meaning no internet connection) but rather no mobile data. We want to avoid having the users download Google Maps and then offline maps for their area. We found the same thing happen with this library.
To solve the problem of the Mobile data, we are making use of reverse billing (https://datafr.ee/products/switch/). Basically, we have a url that our app calls to reach the API which is made datafree (the company is paying for the data that will be consumed by calling the url).
For example:
Normal URL would be https://somesite.co.za and the datafree url would then be generated something like https://somesite.datafree.co. So instead of calling https://somesite.co.za we call https://somesite.datafree.co which still reaches our api, but the user does not need to have mobile data on their phone. (Please refer to the link above if my explanation does not make sense).
My question is, what url's are being called in this library to show the map? Where do we change it to the datafree url in the code?
Will we be able to show the map even if the user does not have Google Maps (I assume yes)
The below screen shots are what we are getting with and without mobile data.
