Resource Fill Bookmarks

Jere's the idea. What I'd like is once I've filled the resources from somewhere, is to SAVE that location (like a bookmark). Once the resources has been filled from a few places, and those locations are stored, it would then be a simple dropdown list of locations to repopulate the list from that directory.

That would make for extremely fast access and great managability, while allowing a "resource pool" to continue to expand.

I thought that maybe there is a difference if the populated list is saved vs saving the location. Personally I think the location is preferable, as any changes in that directory would be made available.

This would be great with the new project load features, and for track templates and fx chains it would just rock, allowing a swift access\management :) of resources that very often span many directories, and serve various purposes.

Great idea.., This would be really useful for the 'Media files' section of the Resources window. Also the Auto-fill sub menu could have two new options..,
'Auto-fill append' and 'Auto-fill replace'. Here is how they would work.

Auto-fill append: Say you have 5 slots all ready loaded, when you select this option the newly filled media from the selected "bookmarked" directory would be inserted beginning at slot 6.
Auto-fill replace: If you have 5 slots all ready loaded selecting this option would cause newly filled media from the selected "bookmarked" directory to replace those slots.

I like the bookmark idea.. It gives me an idea, will test..
I assume you also want an option to tie slots actions to those bookmarks instead?

great, I'm glad your into it.

as for tying slot actions into it, I'm not sure, I hadn't thought about that. Though tbh, for me, that isn't really a necessity.

I like to use track templates to store portions of a project that I might want to recall later. So say i render a 10 track drum group, I'll then save those 10 tracks as a template and delete them from the project. Then if I need the original drum group again, I can just load up that template and work with the original parts.

So the reason I requested the bookmarks, is that I start to accumulate track templates in many different places, not just the default directory, but in each projects directory. So the bookmarks would allow me to deal with tracks templates on a per project with much more ease.

Based on that type of usage, maybe slots would be usefule too, though for me just a simple

right click>
dropdown menu>
bookmarks (list of saved locations)>
fill from location

would suffice - though obviously do what you think is best! i trust your judgement :)

done r664 , it will be available in the next release.
bookmarks with have their own auto-fill/auto-save/dbl-click prefs, there's allso a new tick box to tie slot actions to bookmarks.
(no time to explain right now, "should" be clear enough.. do you dot hesitate if it is not!)
