On iPad using iOS 8 the mask doesn't cover the full screen

I'm using BTProgressHUD V 1.12 and seeing an issue on the iPad when using a gradient mask where the mask does not cover the entire view. I only see this issue on iOS 8 and not iOS 7.

I've noticed a similar issue logged with SVProgressHUD and the screen shots on that thread match the behavior I'm experiencing.
