Show only boundary whitespace

Description

Rendering whitespace in between other characters is meaningless and unpleasant cluttered to look at.

Shouldn't only the leading and trailing whitespace be rendered? Or an option for this can be added?

It's to ensure you're using a space and not a tab between words, but I might agree that single-space characters could be hidden by default.

In my case they're barely visible unless I squint, I wouldn't call it particularly unpleasant
