Feature Request

I would like to propose an update to the standard set of labels that we currently use, and formally document the resulting collection of labels in a new CONTRIBUTING.md file.

Use Case

Many of the current labels overlap and are vague. For example Help, Help Wanted, and Question. Cleaning these up and documenting their uses will help on-board new maintainers and clearly mark the state of open issues/prs when scrolling through the list.

TODO

  • Update list of labels
  • Create Contributing.md

Are you willing and able to implement this?

Yes 🎉

Removed:

  • Clients - These issues should be moved to the clients repo
  • Fixed but not yet released - 'Fixed' implies a bug, and bugs should necessitate a release.
  • Help - Use either Question or Help Wanted
  • Improvement - Use Feature
  • Plugins - Either plugins will be broken out of the main repo, or they are part of the code base. If they are broken out, issues should be migrated to the appropriate repo. If they are part of the code base they should not be treated as special entities.
  • restify-errors - These issues should be moved to the errors repo
