Someone asked about the possibility of having the web resources in a different location and instruct rethinkdb executable to look for it in that location. I remembered about --web-static-directory option, but I couldn't find it in the help sections.

This was by design, we thought that this is only useful as an internal feature when we needed to override the directory in some cases. Alas, vox populi, vox dei.

I vote for this to be an official feature. Been looking for this option.

Status: this is implemented and in review 314.

Fixed in commit cdaf04a, and merged into next, this should be in release 1.5
