I assume the wake word models provided are generally "high quality" ones. It would be nice if there were some more options for some of the popular pop culture choices. Jarvis and Alexa are great, but some other possible ones:

  • Cortana (Halo / Windows)
  • Glados (Portal)
  • Skynet (Terminator)
  • HAL (Space Odessey)

etc.

I know there are instructions to add additional models, but it explicitly states that the "automated" processes can produce low quality models. I also do not have a personal Google account to use Google Collab either. And as someone who knows Python, but does not know anything about ML, I am kind of lost on how to actually make one and if I did make one, I would have no idea if they are good quality or not.

I made one using the simple google method(number 1 on the page u linked) and its completely fine. It has no trouble responding to me. Just make a throwaway google account. Cant just do that? Seems like alot of effort to write code to train a model instead.

Glados, skynet, and HAL are available here: https://github.com/fwartner/home-assistant-wakewords-collection

That collection is amazing. I do not remember seeing in the docs for setting up the VA anywhere, it should definitely be there instead/in addition to the docs to make your own.

We link to it in a few places, but I wonder if it's not in the main docs because of the handful of "unusual" wake words 😄
